Definite & indefinite articles
French nouns almost always travel with an article, and the article changes with the noun's gender (masculine/feminine) and number (singular/plural).\n\nIndefinite (a / some — an unspecified thing): un (m.), une (f.), des (plural).\n\nDefinite (the — a specific thing, or a general category): le (m.), la (f.), l' (before a vowel or silent h), les (plural).
