Le passé composé with avoir

The passé composé is the everyday past tense ("I did / I have done"). For most verbs it is built with two pieces: the present tense of avoir + the past participle of the main verb.\n\nRegular participles: -er → -é (parlé), -ir → -i (fini), -re → -u (vendu).\n\nJ'ai parlé, tu as fini, il a vendu. Many common verbs have irregular participles (avoir → eu, être → été, faire → fait, voir → vu).
